Short Term Accommodation Rental

08/12/2015

As anyone working in live-in care knows, you often have housing provided for two weeks then have a week off where you need somewhere else to stay. Some have the option to stay with family members, whilst others do not. Even if you do have somewhere to stay, perhaps you would like to have the option of travelling around the UK and hotels can be a very expensive option.

The purpose of this article is to examine the other options available to carers who want to find affordable accommodation to stay in when not at work.

Roomorama is the first option I came across when researching this topic. The website is well made and it is easy to use the search options in order to find what you are looking for. Simply enter your location, dates and if necessary, decide the property type you are looking for. I was able to find housing in central London for £20 a night after a short search- prices that are much lower than any hotel because often, the accommodation is rented by homeowners who need to make extra money.

According to Roomorama, Roomorama is a platform with over 300,000 short-term rentals and accommodation worldwide. They search the globe for professionally-managed holiday homes, homestays and vacation rentals to provide reliable and quality accommodation.

AirBnB is a famous site that also offers this flexible and cost-effective method of renting accommodation. AirBnB has some excellent features that help you easily find the type of housing that you want. Although the average cost per night is daunting at £80, it can be as cheap as £7. There is also a map that allows you to easily click on the location that you wish to stay in with featured properties.

Filters allow you to determine your price range, the amount of bedrooms, bathrooms and beds in the accommodation. You may also use filters to get places with wifi, TV, bed and breakfast and so on.

The best option if you are truly on a budget is ‘couchsurfing’. You can stay at generous people’s homes for free all over the world. Verification on the site costs just £13 a year, and the site claims that this helps you to find hosts twice as quickly. The main tip is to look for hosts with references o that you know they can be trusted. A quick search of hosts in Swansea, UK revealed a surprisingly large number of willing hosts (1667)

You could book a cheap flight to anywhere in Europe and have the added advantage of your host helping you with tourism information, with many offering to accompany you on days out. If you are not so adventurous and simply want somewhere to stay, there are a huge range of potential hosts at your disposal.
