Marcia Johnson Tel: 07487551115 Email: marcia_100@hotmail.com Personal Profile Working as a care worker and doing a five day course introduced me to Care Planning, Challenging Behaviour, Food Hygiene, Infection Control, Basic First Aid Awareness, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness, Communication, Administration of Medication, Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults, Safeguarding Children, Epilepsy and Personal Care. Working within the care sector has given me an insight into what the Care Quality Commission and the Quality and Outcomes Framework role involves. While working for the Minor Injuries Unit it afforded me the opportunity to work with the general public face to face. I was also involved with the staff rota ensuring cover was available if staff was off sick by making the appropriate phone calls. I assisted with the recruitment of staff by collating application forms and helping to eliminate candidates. Typed and updated the Units policies and procedures. Worked along side the out of hours GP service in the evenings as we shared the same office. I had the opportunity to work bank shifts for a Consultant at the hospital as a Medical Secretary doing audio typewriting when not working at the MIU. The creative side of me has always been there even as a child. I would love doing art at school, dressmaking or anything which I would make use of my hands. As a an aromatherapy masseur using the various oils to get the olfactory senses going and reflexologist to get the body back in order by massaging the feet; I am again using my hands, which I have been told are healing hands. These skills could be incorporated into a patient centred program of social, creative and skill based activities in which inclusiveness is the key. Working as a live in carer looking after Dementia, Parkinson's and Cancer patients have taught me that they are all individuals with different needs and therefore require different approaches. My skill set is vast and varied and I have no doubt that my role as a live in carer will incorporate all my skills under one umbrella. This is the challenge I have been looking for and I am confident that I am the right person for the job. Employment History November 2015 – present. Abbots Care Live in care worker Main duties include: • 24 hour live in care, personal care, shopping, cooking, cleaning, writing reports, administering medication, accompanying service user on days out and ensuring service user is as comfortable as possible. March 2008 - 2013 MIU St Albans City Hospital Receptionist Main duties include: • Booking in patients with accuracy, answering telephone queries, filing and retrieving patients notes, liaising with Emergency Nurse Practitioners, ensure patients were seen in time order or priority order according to each individual case. July 1985 - 2008 Worked with various agencies doing office administration jobs Main duties include: • Answering the telephone, typing, filing, photocopying, making travel arrangements, hotel arrangements, arranging meetings, organising lunches, taking minutes of meetings. Education • Agnes Stewart High School. 1979-1983 GCSE’s and O Levels • Park Lane College: 1985-1989 Receptionist and Audio Secretarial courses • Hendon College: 1996 IIHHT Diploma in Aromatherapy, Diploma in Reflexology • City Lit: 2007 Level 3 ITEC Diploma in Diet & Nutrition for Complementary therapists Hobbies and Interests I love travelling and have travelled to most continents.
