Retired Speech and Language Therapist specialising in enabling, communication., even when speech was not possible; Diagnoses included Cerebral Palsy, Learning Disability, Sensory Impairment, Autism, Head Injury, Stroke and Dementia. Sometimes my role went beyond the usual scope of Therapist, e.g. liaising with other professionals, helping with IT and finding accessible activities. I have helped friends and family with Cerebral Palsy, Parkinson's Schizophrenia, Myeloma, and Visual Impairment: providing practical care and attending appointments as advocate Time with them showed me the challenges that everyday situations present, but also how challenges can often be overcome with patience and flexibility. At 55, to try something different, I trained in TEFL, and spent 2 years working in Italy. Back the UK, I am teaching online, and volunteering. I am now seeking new work experience, and would like to use my work and life experience to help a person stay in their own home and live as fully as possible. ...

Hello, I am a caring and energetic forty nine year old woman, with a good sense of humour. My experiences in the care industry include palletive care as well as caring for older members of our society and children who have emotional and behavioural problems. Personal skills include my ability to adapt quickly to any work environment, good organisational and problem solving abilities as well as the capacity to maintain good working relationships with service users and staff. In order to do these jobs effectively I have engaged on a number of courses to ensure I had the necessay knowledge and ability to participate as fully and efficiently as possible with and on behalf of the service user. I have previously worked in care and i enjoyed it immensely and found it very rewarding..I changed career path about 8 years ago into human resources, but last year i had to take some time off to study and care for my sister and that is what reignited my passion for care hence me applying for this role. My name is Zainab Abdulai, I am originally from Nigeria.I came to this country when I was 13 years old with my sister to live with my mum. I will describe my personality as Bubbly, outgoing with a great sense of humour, willing to help anyone in need and when I’m in, I’m all in. I love to laugh I am easy to talk to and a good listener. I understand people and I make friends very easily. I enjoy varieties of activities such as going to the cinema, going to comedy shows, theatres, going to see my favourite football team Arsenal. I enjoy going to the gym it's one of my favourite things to do..I also enjoy going to restaurants and socialising with friends .. I love watching documentaries I think it is because I love to learn new things. I have a big phobia for animals, I'm petrified of them.I can not work with animals due to my phobia, although I find them cute and I wish I did not have this phobia it is just something I have no control of. Apart from working in care I have worked as a Hr practitioner for about 8yrs. I had to take time off to care for my sister after she had a cardiac arrest, the time caring for my sister made me realise my passion for care... I had to be with my sister 24/7 , help her with everything and I could see how rewarding it was knowing I could help help her to live a better quality life. Caring for my sister ignited my passion for care and this is the reason why I want to do live in care because I know what my help means to those that need it and it is an amazing feeling to know I can help someone have a better quality of life.
