Job Description

We are looking for a kind, reliable and trustworthy live-in companion to help my lovely mum in her home in Mill Hill, North London.

My mum is young at heart, mentally sharp and enjoys her independence. We are looking for someone friendly, caring and practical who can provide a little extra help around the house, making everyday life easier and ensuring she feels comfortable, supported and safe in her own home.

The role

This is a relatively light and flexible role, requiring approximately 2–3 hours of help per day, with the exact arrangements to be agreed together.

Duties would include:

  • Preparing and cooking simple, healthy meals.
  • Helping with grocery shopping and other essential errands.
  • Light housework, tidying and keeping the home clean and organised.
  • Helping my mum remember to take her medication at the appropriate times.
  • Providing friendly companionship and occasional practical assistance as needed.

We are looking for someone who enjoys cooking, is organised and considerate, and genuinely cares about helping another person maintain their independence.

Accommodation and benefits

  • Your own private bedroom in the house.
  • Food provided at no cost.
  • A paid position, with salary negotiable depending on experience and the arrangement agreed.
  • Plenty of free time outside the agreed working hours.

This could suit someone looking for a second job alongside existing employment, part-time work or other commitments. The role is not intended to be a full-time position, and we would be happy to discuss a flexible arrangement that works for the right person.

Location

The house is in Mill Hill, North London, with good transport links into central London, which is approximately 25 minutes away. There are local shops, parks and bus routes nearby.

Who we are looking for

Ideally, someone who is trustworthy, kind, patient, responsible and a confident cook. Previous experience in caring, companionship or supporting an older person would be an advantage, but the right personality and a genuine willingness to help are equally important.

We would like to have an initial conversation with interested applicants to get to know each other, discuss the role and agree on a fair salary and working arrangement.

If you think this could suit you, we would love to hear from you!
