Job Description

About St Jude’s Care

St Jude’s Care is a family‑run care provider delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care across the South West of England. We provide live‑in care, domiciliary care, and supported living, supporting people to live safely, independently and with dignity in their own homes.

We pride ourselves on combining professional standards with a genuine personal touch. Every branch of St Jude’s Care is rated Good by the CQC, reflecting our commitment to safe, compassionate and reliable care.

As a family‑run organisation, we value strong relationships with the people we support and with our staff. Our carers are at the heart of what we do, and we work hard to ensure they feel supported, respected and part of the St Jude’s Care family.

As a Live‑in Carer, you’ll provide dedicated one‑to‑one support, offering not just practical care, but companionship, reassurance, and continuity.

The Role

As a Live‑in Carer, you’ll provide dedicated one‑to‑one support to a client within their own home, offering consistent, person‑centred care that promotes independence, dignity and reassurance.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering high‑quality personal care and practical support in line with individual care plans

  • Prompting or administering medication safely and appropriately

  • Preparing meals and supporting nutrition and hydration

  • Providing companionship, emotional support and reassurance throughout the day

  • Supporting clients with daily routines and encouraging independence wherever possible

  • Assisting with household tasks related to the client’s care and wellbeing

  • Maintaining clear communication with the care team and reporting any changes or concerns

  • Live‑in care offers continuity, stability and the opportunity to build meaningful relationships. Your presence will make a lasting difference, helping clients feel safe, supported and confident in their own home.

About You – The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for caring, reliable individuals who are passionate about making a positive difference in people’s lives. At St Jude’s Care, attitude and values are just as important as experience.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be kind, compassionate and respectful, with a genuine desire to support others

  • Have a person‑centred approach and treat everyone with dignity and empathy

  • Be reliable, professional and committed to delivering high‑quality care

  • Communicate clearly and confidently with clients, families and colleagues

  • Be able to work independently while also being part of a supportive team

  • Be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the people we support

  • Have the right to work in the UK

Previous experience in care is essential for live‑in roles, as you will be supporting individuals independently within their own homes. This experience does not need to be in a live‑in setting, but applicants should have at least six months’ experience working within a social care environment. Full training and ongoing support will still be provided. What matters most is your willingness to learn, a positive attitude, and a strong commitment to supporting people to live safely, confidently and independently.

Why Work for St Jude’s Care?
