Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate, reliable live-in carer to provide day-to-day support to an elderly couple in a well-designed bungalow in Cheshire. Both clients are in sound mental health but have limited mobility; the lady has Parkinson’s and requires additional assistance. The role focuses on personalised care that maintains safety, comfort, dignity, and cultural sensitivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Personal care and mobility support: Assist with bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and safe mobility, including use of mobility aids; provide additional support related to Parkinson’s (e.g. fall prevention, managing tremors and rigidity).

• Medication support: Prompt, track, and assist with prescribed medications

• Meals and Nutrition: Plan and prepare balanced meals, ideally familiar Indian dishes, while supporting hydration and any dietary requirements.

• Household tasks: Light housekeeping, laundry, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.

• Companionship and routines: Provide social engagement, accompany to appointments or community activities

• Transport and errands: Assist with shopping, pharmacy collections, and attending medical appointments (driving is a plus but not essential).

• Cultural and language needs: Communicate fluently in Punjabi or Hindi and English; respect cultural preferences, religious practices, and dietary customs.

Requirements

• Experience: Prior experience as a live-in carer or care assistant

• Language: Fluent in Punjabi or Hindi and English (spoken).

• Gender: Female (requested by the clients for personal care needs).

• Skills and qualities: Compassionate, patient, respectful, discreet; strong communication; reliable and organised.

• Status: Must be based in the UK (overseas applicants will not be considered) and be able to provide references on request

• Other: Non-smoker; ability to cook simple, healthy indian meals

Work Pattern and Accommodation

• Live-in arrangement: Private bedroom with en-suite facilities provided.

• Location: Cheshire

• Hours: Typically a mix of daytime support with agreed rest periods; nights may involve occasional support depending on needs.

• Time off: Regular breaks and agreed days off (to be discussed).
