Job Description

The clients are a couple living in a very attractive small town (population was 2830 in 2011) on the edge of the Cotswolds in Oxfordshire, OX7. It has various shops, bars and takeaways.

Mr C lives with glaucoma and is largely blind. He also has peripheral neuropathy and a catheter. Mrs C had been his main support, but had a fall and broke her hip around a year ago, and so she was unable. Mrs C has since recovered, but the experience created a feeling of vulnerability for all of them, and so they have been receiving live-in support from us since March 2025.

The day for both of them will start around 8.00 am. Mrs C is able to manage her morning routine independently, but Mr C needs some support out of bed and with his morning personal care in the shower and dressing. He also needs help with his catheter (day bag and night bag). His leg bag will also need emptying throughout the day and changing as needed. They will both benefit from some support around the home, with shopping and with meals (breakfast, lunch and light meal in the evening, e.g. soup around 7.00 pm) and drinks (Mrs C is vegetarian, Mr C is not). Mr C will also need support getting ready for bed.

Mrs C enjoys art and would like to get back to her painting, but needs encouragement to do so. Mr C is interested in history and uses audiobooks.

Both have struggled to come to terms with losing independence. There is no dementia or cognitive issues with either of them.
