Experienced Live-in Care Assistant – Dementia and Stroke Care

Location: Richmond
Pay: £135 per day 
Rota: Holiday cover with a view of ongoing placement 
Start date: 15th August 

Best Care Co. is looking for a kind, experienced and proactive Live-in Care Assistant to support a client in their own home.

The successful candidate must have a good understanding of dementia care and previous experience supporting someone following a stroke. You should be confident using mobility equipment and assisting with safe transfers and movement around the home.

This role would suit a calm, patient and empathetic person who can provide high-quality care while promoting the client’s dignity, independence and wellbeing.

Main responsibilities

• Providing person-centred live-in care and companionship
• Supporting a client living with dementia and the effects of a stroke
• Assisting with mobility, transfers and the safe use of care equipment
• Supporting with personal care, dressing and daily routines
• Preparing nutritious, home-cooked meals
• Encouraging independence and meaningful daily activities
• Providing medication support in accordance with the care plan
• Completing light household duties and keeping the home clean and organised
• Monitoring changes in the client’s wellbeing and reporting any concerns
• Maintaining accurate daily care records
• Communicating professionally with the client, family members and the office team

About you

You will be:

• Kind, compassionate and empathetic
• Calm and patient, with a good understanding of dementia
• Experienced in supporting clients following a stroke
• Confident using mobility aids and care equipment
• Proactive and able to recognise what needs to be done
• A good cook who can prepare varied and nutritious meals
• Respectful of the client’s home, preferences and routines
• Reliable, organised and able to work independently
• A good communicator and supportive team member

Essential requirements

• Previous professional care experience
• Experience in dementia care
• Experience supporting a client following a stroke
• Experience with mobility support, transfers and care equipment
• Good spoken and written English
• Right to work in the UK
• Enhanced DBS certificate, preferably registered with the DBS Update Service
• Relevant care training and references
