My responsibilities included assisting residents with personal care, supporting their comfort and mobility, observing changes in their general well-being, and communicating concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals. I also gained exposure to specialised care, including palliative and end-of-life care. This taught me the importance of patience, sensitivity, compassion, and maintaining dignity when supporting individuals during particularly vulnerable stages of their lives. In April 2023, I relocated to Fareham, Hampshire, where I joined Oak View Group at Hunters Care Home. I worked there until November 2024, providing a broad range of residential care services. My responsibilities included assisting residents with washing, dressing, personal hygiene, toileting, medication support, nutrition, hydration, mobility, and daily living activities. I also supported residents emotionally, encouraged social interaction, assisted with household tasks, maintained care records, and reported changes in residents' physical or mental well-being to senior staff. These responsibilities strengthened my communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to provide individualised care while working effectively as part of a team. Following my residential care experience, I continued developing my skills through self-employed care work and healthcare agency assignments, including assignments associated with OneCall24. Working across different care arrangements has strengthened my adaptability, independence, organisation, and ability to respond to the individual needs of those I support. WHY I AM INTERESTED IN SUPPORTED LIVING AND LIVE-IN CARE I am particularly interested in Supported Living and Live-in Care because these roles provide opportunities to support individuals in maintaining independence, dignity, choice, and control over their everyday lives. I believe every individual deserves to be treated as a person first, regardless of age, disability, illness, or personal circumstances. I also hold a Care Certificate and have completed an Open University course in Caring for Adults.
