I retired from the police service in 2010 and in the time since I have been involved in the care industry. I have attained a Level 3 in Adult Health and Social Care. I have managed a scheme for Independent living with extra care services covering a range of physical disabilities/dementia/parkinsons etc. I have worked as a senior care worker dispensing medication and engaging with multi agency to develop the appropriate the correct level of care. I have prepared care packages, risk assessments and managed up to 20 staff. I have been working as a support worker for just over 13 years. Never dreamed I would or could be a carer. En though I cared for my dad during his end of life period. My father was bed ridden for about year and a half. He had stroke which left him completely paralysed. I stumble into the caring field when I was searching flexible working hours around my kids. I am a very caring individual who understands that each individual is different and have their own needs and goals. I practice person centred approach. I am a good listener.
