Having worked as a Live-in carer with large agencies and private clients, I am fully aware how important it is to maintain the comfort and dignity of clients. After 3 years of taking care of my own grandmother before she passed, I have been employed by NamText Agency as a Care Assistant working with clients in their own homes for the past 5 years. During this time I have provided companionship and emotional support to a wide range of clients, applying my interpersonal skills, compassion and cheerfulness to develop strong professional relationships with clients and their families. I have been working as a carer/PA since 2008, in a variety of different roles. I have held 4 long term placements, the longest being a 2 year stint for a lovely lady with complete paralysis. I have experience with spinal injuries, CP, SMA, RSD and Austism, but realise that no two people EVER have the same needs, and always take on each new challenge as a blank slate........lets be honest, the only real expert in your care need is you. I worked for 1 year as an emergency cover PA, which took me all over the UK and gave me experience with most catheters (including super pubic), access vehicles and hoists. I was lucky enough to be trained by a power house of a disability awareness trainer and I make it my main focus is to remove barriers that crop up for my employer on a daily basis, and treat every person with dignity and respect. ...
