I have retired at the end of September last year after a long career (40 years in Christian ministry) as a Missionary in Africa (30 years) and the rest in ministry with a mainline church in Scotland. I am a white (Dutch origin) male from South Africa and Zimbabwe. I was looking for a retirement (caring would be ideal as I'm still very fit and walking miles every day with my wife) job which could be part-time or full-time but I'm about to throw in the towel and look for something else as all my efforts so far, even just to get training somewhere were in vain. It became clear to me that it is because of my age (66) and being a male. Yet most websites say they don't discriminate on the grounds of gender, race, age etc? I also see the critical shortage of carers! You cannot send me job alerts as I'm not trained and all my applications even to be a companion carer, were so far ignored. ...
