I am a Portuguese Female carer , 48 years old, single, no children. I have graduated in Portugal as a nursery Teacher (childhood educator as we call it there) in 2002 and among other jobs all of the children related ones were performed with fostered children. Not in my private home, because in Portugal we do not place children in care at private homes, but in institutions of around 50 children each. Kind of a care/nursing home size but with children and young people living there instead of elderly people. I have moved to the UK for good in August 2013 to work with elderly and disabled adults in the care sector. I have over 9 years of care experience now, being the first 5 months working as a Community/Domiciliary Carer and over eight years now as a Live-in Carer. For a few months I have also worked in office based roles in some care agencies.

In May 2016 I got the Level 3 Diploma (formerly known as NVQ 3) in Health and Social Care. Most of its optional subjects chosen by me were about Dementia as from the beginning most of my clients suffer from it, so, I was very interested in learning more and more about it. And still am. I have also gained a lot of experience in moving and handling as several people I cared for were non mobile and required a hoist to mobilize. I am trained and experienced as well in catheter care, stoma care, palliative care, end of life care, diabetes, epilepsy, anaphylaxis, etc, and all my training certificates are up-to-date. I have also had specialist Training for PEG tube feeding and PEG tube medication administration back in 2016 which has been updated in September 2022.

I am a confident driver, for nearly 30 years now, for both manual and automatic cars and I am used to drive adapted large vehicles too. I have my own car.

I have been working for a while as a Field Care Supervisor for a month and as a Care Coordinator for a month as well, back in 2020 in the same care company, then as a Scheduler for a month, in 2021 in a different care company and again as a Care Coordinator in 2022 for two and a half months at another care company.

In November 2021 Ihave achieved the Level 5 Diploma (formerly known as NVQ 5) in Leadership in Health and Social Care, as it is my aim to keep progressing in my care career to be able to achieve my dream of opening my own care company in future.

My English language level for speaking and writing is Advanced. I do also speak Spanish fluently. My French is of a medium level and my Italian is weak. Obviously Portuguese is my main language as I was born and bread in Portugal, more precisely in Lisbon, having lived there my whole life until moving to the UK at the age of 39.

For now, I'm open to offers to work nationwide as a private live-in carer or as a care coordinator or a deputy manager, but on these only within the Cheltenham or Gloucester areas.

If you think you can have a job offer to me, please do not hesitate in getting in touch. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this.

Kindest regards.

Ana Sousa.
