I’m an experienced teacher and long-time volunteer supporting isolated elderly people, and young people in care. I believe that everyone has the right to live a life that makes them happy, on their own terms, and I want to help make that possible for the people I support, hence my decision to move into a career in care where I can focus entirely on someone’s well-being and independence. I’m a fast learner and very adaptable. I have worked with people from a wide age-range within different cultures and I genuinely enjoy listening to people and their stories. Years of working with teenagers has also made me very good at reading the room; I’m happy to fill a silence with a chat, but just as comfortable with a quiet moment when needed. I’m practical and will get stuck in with cooking, personal care, and outings. I stay active through hiking and the gym.
