I have recently relocated to the UK from New Zealand to build on my experience in the health and care industry and to spend some time travelling. I enjoy working within environments which value trust, clear communication, care, autonomy and light humour. These attributes help when working alongside others and support developing working relationhips. I work well within a team and like to encourage and empower others in their roles. I am also most comfirtable working indepedently and am content in taking the initiative when something needs doing. I have varied interests that include growing vegetables and herbs, listening to music of most genres, writing and being in nature. Holistic health is also a passion of mine and I like to cook with fresh and locally grown food to support my health and wellbeing. As well as walking dancing and spending time with family and friends. I take pride with my work and have a professional manner. This is evident in my application and priority of tasks. I have been working exclusively as a spinal cord injury carer for almost two years now and have experience with SMA recently for the past 3 months. I have experience with catheter care, hoisting, bowel management (manual evacuation and Navina system (water system)), and know about Nifedipine administration in cases of emergency. I’m very hardworking, very hygienic and gentle. I have been a carer for over 3years now and have experience and training in various fields including muscular dystrophy/atrophy, epilepsy, autism, dimentia, end of life, multiple sclerosis,just to mention a few. I have training in- - [ ] Dimentia level 1-4 - [ ] Cerebral Palsy - [ ] Food hygiene and preparation - [ ] Catheter care - [ ] First aid - [ ] End of life care - [ ] Hoisting - [ ] Manual handling and moving - [ ] Safeguarding of adults and children I am constantly renewing my training and always willing to learn more. I was a kindergarten teacher for 6years in China teaching English. This has taught me the art of patience, flexibility and adaptability in a place where language was a barrier.
