Hello, my name is Sally and I was born in Surrey and grew up in Sussex. I trained at Gt Ormond Street and left to have my family. I returned to nursing and retrained at Sussex University in 1995-8. I filled in as a houseparent in a children’s home for many years before returning to nursing. I cared for my mother until her passing with ovarian cancer and then I retrained as an Occupational Therapist with an intention of moving to Canada. My son had a serious car accident and I deferred for a year but financially had to work so my student days were halted. I worked for two NHS trusts as a community worker in recovery and rehabilitation and crisis assessment. I later converted to mental health at Huddersfield University and this led to working with a severely depressed lady with disabilities from brain trauma. This was a private position on personal recommendation. I was then offered another private position supporting a lady with severe anxiety and dementia. I stayed 5 1/2 years until my client passed away. I was immediately called upon by word of mouth to assist a couple locally. I have set up a care package and supported the family in all aspects of their parents care. The husband has Autism and the wife dementia and mobility issues The role is quite simple now and I am passing it onto a small care team that I formed and managed for six months. I also assist two days a week with a friends mother who has Alzheimer’s. I can supply excellent references. My family are grown up, eldest a head dietitian in the NHS specialising in eating disorders and both my daughters work in social care as Managers, my youngest is an officer in the RAF, undertaking his Masters at Kings College London . I love to travel and study and completed a foot health care practitioner course, having passed theory I just have practical to challenge me. I will build my business around my care work. When at home I walk my little patterdale Isla and she demands 2 miles every morning. I am updating my care certificate but I am fully competent and it has not expired. I have a DBS certificate. I drive and have a good car. I am willing to work anywhere. I have lived in Scotland, Perthshire as a housekeeper and nanny and Black Isle in a gamekeepers cottage with my family. I hate urban environments. I have lived in Tiverton and Mid Devon buying an old pub in North Tawton. Raised my youngest there. I currently live in Swanage Dorset with extended family. I am happy in my present job but feel I need a change. I have been in the position for over 2 years and gave six years to my previous position. I am loyal and hope to spend one week a month with my present family as I have set up a competent and reliable team. I am dutiful and sensible but I do love a giggle too. ...

Hi My name is Gary and I am originally from Scotland, although I now work with clients all over the UK. After working for 12 years as a mental health support worker, I decided to broaden my horizons within the social care sector and for the past 7 years have worked as self employed a live-in carer. I work in a person-centred way with a broad range of clients and conditions, including: dementia, Parkinson's, physical disabilities, learning disabilities, mental illness, palliative care and end of life care. I provide practical and emotional support to help people live a safe and independent life in their own home and community. This includes medication administration, personal care, continence care, moving and handling using hoists and other aids, cooking, cleaning and of course companionship. I am also happy to support clients to go on holiday at home or abroad (I have a wide experience of travel all over the world) I am also an animal lover, so pets are no problem. I have an NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care, as well as a care certificate. I have my own carer liability insurance and I am fully vaccinated, including boosters. My preferred employment type is self employed live-in care. ...
