Hi My name is Gary and I am originally from Scotland, although I now work with clients all over the UK. After working for 12 years as a mental health support worker, I decided to broaden my horizons within the social care sector and for the past 7 years have worked as a live-in carer. I work in a person-centred way with a broad range of clients and conditions, including: dementia, Parkinson's, physical disabilities, learning disabilities, mental illness, palliative care and end of life care. I provide practical and emotional support to help people live a safe and independent life in their own home and community. This includes medication administration, personal care, continence care, moving and handling using hoists and other aids, cooking, cleaning and of course companionship. I am also happy to support clients to go on holiday at home or abroad (I have a wide experience of travel all over the world) I am also an animal lover, so pets are no problem. I have an NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care, as well as a care certificate. I have my own carer liability insurance and I am fully vaccinated, including boosters. My preferred employment type is self employed live-in care. ...

I have been a live-in carer for the last 9 years, mainly in England. I am fortunate to have got to know so many wonderful, cheerful and interesting people, who took part in building this country, participated in WW2, served in the defence force, or just being kind to charity work. I feel they deserve our best care. ...

Having practiced as a teacher in Zimbabwe for 12 years, I now wish to pursue a career in Health and Social Care, focusing on Health. Have just completed my BA (Hons) in Health and Social Care at the University of Derby and I expect to graduate with a 2.1 class honors in June 2015. l also hold a Masters in Mental health nursing and have been practicing since 2019 to date. Accordingly, in seeking employment with your organisation, I believe that I possess the strength and personal attributes to work with people facing social exclusion and need assistance with their personal care . Indeed, an ability to enhance my existing knowledge in this particular arena of health care is one which I would especially relish and is a further reason for my choosing to apply to this particular job. My academic strengths are complemented by a range of relevant personal experiences that highlight not only my suitability for this job but also my longer-term career goals. Through working in a variety of nursing homes, residential care homes, dementia assessment wards, and acute mental health wards, I have an extensive set of inter-personal skills that enable me to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people, from nursing professionals to high ranking consultants, as well as individual patients and their concerned relatives. These are transferrable skills that I will bring with me to this job. In addition, as an altruistic person with a strong sense of empathy, and using the skills that I have learnt in both nursing, shadowing placements and my former career as a teacher, I hope to ensure that fellow work mates and clients who may be more reticent in voicing their opinions and views will feel that they are in a safe environment in which we can all work as ateam. Indeed, as a committed Christian who attends church regularly, I believe that it is my duty to assist and help others in all walks of life whenever the need or opportunity arises. With relevant clinic skills acquired through placement, a proven track record in both oral and written communication, and well-honed interpersonal and team-working skills, I am a full-time mother of four who is used to the demands of running a busy household. Thus, when not involved in active study or work, I am proficient in finding time to indulge my passion of reading. As a result, I possess exceptional time-management skills and am confident in my own abilities to make decisions in a proactive and professional manner at all times. These are strengths which, I feel, are vital to my successful undertaking the job. ...
