Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse to provide dedicated waking night care for a private client living with dementia in their home in NW8, London. This is an active overnight role requiring the nurse to remain awake throughout the shift, ensuring continuous monitoring, reassurance, and clinical support to promote safety and comfort overnight.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide continuous waking night nursing care in line with the client’s care plan.

• Remain awake and alert throughout the shift to monitor the client’s physical and cognitive condition.

• Manage night-time confusion, agitation, wandering, or distress using dementia-appropriate approaches.

• Administer medications as prescribed and manage any overnight clinical needs.

• Support with personal care as required, including toileting, repositioning, and comfort measures.

• Monitor vital signs and identify any changes in condition, escalating concerns appropriately.

• Maintain clear, accurate clinical notes and provide thorough handovers to daytime care staff or family.

• Respond promptly and effectively to any medical concerns or emergencies.

• Work respectfully within the client’s home, maintaining privacy, dignity, and discretion at all times.

Essential Requirements:

• Registered Nurse (RN) with current NMC registration.

• Demonstrable experience caring for individuals with dementia, ideally in a one-to-one or home-care setting.

• Strong clinical judgement and ability to work independently overnight.

• Calm, patient, and empathetic manner, particularly during periods of nighttime distress.

• Excellent communication and observation skills.

• Legal right to work in the UK.

Desirable:

• Previous experience in private nursing or waking night roles.

• Confidence in managing dementia-related night-time behaviours.

• Experience working closely with families in a private setting.

Working Hours:

• Waking night shifts (hours to be confirmed based on care requirements).

Remuneration:

• Competitive hourly rate, dependent on experience.
