Job Description

YOUR SHIFT: 1 week on / 1 week off. 
YOUR SALARY: £945 per week (£135 per day) worked. 
EXPERIENCE: Not essential. 
YOUR DRIVING: Confident, safe driver essential! 

ME: I am a 48-year-old man with Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 2, which means I’m a full time powered wheelchair user. I need assistance with all aspects of daily living - i.e. whatever you do for yourself you would need to do for me. I am married with two grown-up children and two grandchildren. I am a non-smoking vegetarian, I like football (Norwich City season-ticket holder and so you will need you to accompany me to matches), I enjoy performing (I'm a member of a local improv troupe) including acting & singing. I like theatre (I have recently become a director of a local community theatre group), TV (GoT, Big Bang, good drama), film and reading. I’m told I’m quite witty and humorous (mainly by me) and a tad sarcastic. I’m fairly eco-minded and proficient in most aspects of IT. 

THE JOB: I require assistance with all aspects of personal/domiciliary care including housework, laundry, cooking etc. You will also need to drive me around in my wheelchair accessible people-carrier sized manual transmission vehicle. Therefore you need to be a competent and conscientious driver. I also need you to regularly accompany me on social occasions and when I am performing. 

YOUR SHIFT: You will be required to live-in for the whole of your weekly shift, as I need my PA in fairly close proximity most of the time. There will be some time off each day, but this has to remain flexible and fit in with my schedule. Assistance is occasionally required at night, although most nights your sleep will be unbroken. 

YOUR SALARY - £130 gross per day worked + £5 gross expenses (food/sundries) per day worked. Double-time supplement for bank holidays. 20 days paid holiday per year. 
TAX & NI - These will be deducted and your net wages paid into your bank every 4 weeks. 
ACCOMMODATION - You will have your own self-contained annexe (kitchen, shower/toilet, bedroom with TV, DVD player & Wi-Fi) during your working shift ONLY, i.e. you will need your own accommodation for when you are not working. 

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT FOR THIS POSITION WILL NEED: 
- To live preferably in East Anglia. 
- To be reliable and flexible and unflappable. 
- To be a non-smoker. 
- To have a recent enhanced DBS (formerly CRB) check, or be willing to have one undertaken. 
- To have NO criminal record. 
- To have a full clean driving licence (manual transmission) and be a confident & safe driver. 
- To be aged 25+ for vehicle insurance purposes. 
- To have all round good physical fitness with no history of back problems. 
- To have good physical & mental energy. 
- To be able to fluently speak, read, write & comprehend English. 
- To like animals, especially dogs and be okay taking care of & picking up after them. 
- To be okay being vegetarian during your time here. 

NICE TO HAVES: 
- Certificates for Moving & Handling, First Aid & Safeguarding Adults. If not I will help you obtain these. 
- A familiarity with this kind of work, although experience is not necessary as I will provide training. 
- A cheerful (although quiet is okay) personality, but also be able to occupy yourself during any downtime.

Upon starting the position there will be a probationary period typically 12 weeks (6 working shifts), the satisfactory completion of which will see you become permanent staff.
