Job Description

Hi, I'm looking for a capable carer for my recently widowed father, based in a flat in Hove overlooking the seafront.

I'd like someone to start ASAP but am happy to flex depending on what suits you. Ideally 19th or as late as 26th October

The schedule would ideally be 5/6 weeks on, one week off, or 5/6 weeks on, 2 weeks off or similar (long stretches on duty)

The job is very much based in the flat, except for a daily 30 mins walk on the prom. He spends most of his time in his armchair overlooking the sea, reading the newspaper, watching TV, browsing Facebook. You'd have 2hours each day free to leave the flat for a break, and several other opportunities for an hour's break here & there.

He has no particular illnesses, just elderly, has a permanent catheter & needs preventative medications

The carer would need to be confident with catheter care, strip washing, support with the commode, managing medications, and any future needs.

The carer would have their own room with a bed (new mattress), armchair, iPad, wardrobe space, and Wi-Fi in this clean, modern apartment. 

There's some light housework & online grocery shopping. We (the family) are supportive and happy to help you by providing any information or equipment which would make your job easier. We have a weekly cleaner too to support you.

Salary depends on experience, working patterns, etc. The salary is a "Flat fee".

The Carer needs to:

Speak excellent English without a strong accent because my Dad is quite deaf.

Have self-employed status.

Great references.

Insurance, DBS, etc.

Relevant qualifications.
