Job Description

Live in Carer URGENTLY required 9th - 13th June ONLY

Due to annual leave, we have a shift available for one calm, patient, experienced, understanding and capable carer, to live in.

The role is for my father, who is 85 and has dementia. He lives on his own since losing my Mum a year ago. He is mostly in good spirits, mobile and often outgoing. He needs someone to manage his daily routine of personal hygiene, dressing, food, drink, housekeeping, grocery shopping, laundry, cleaning, light gardening and care of one cat, whom Derek adores.

Dad will still cut the lawn quite happily, rain or shine.

He loves to both be in his garden, pottering, cleaning, mowing the lawn, rain or shine or to have a few hours out. He is happy to go for a walk into town where he will talk to anyone about anything and is particularly keen on a drive out, where his keen sense of speed, location and direction help to keep his mind active. He has a good appetite, has forgotten about all the foods he dislikes and needs encouragement to drink his cups of tea and fruit squash.

Dementia needs no explaining to anyone experienced and leads to confusion, lost words, forgetfulness, the constant re-arranging of his possessions and chatter about everything and nothing.
