Job Description

Dementia carer required
We are a close family looking for a female live-in helper for our mum with solid experience in Dementia care. To give you some background, our parents are of Indian background but have been in the UK for most of their years.

Our mum lives with our dad in the family home which is in the countryside of Hertfordshire. Our parents are vegetarian and our dad, although suffered from a stroke, is perfectly capable, drives and looks after himself.

Mum is 70 years of age and very young at heart. She is mobile, houseproud and manages her own personal care but needs to be reminded of daily tasks in personal hygiene. 

The role is to support our mum in her home. Keeping her physically fit and mentally stimulated. She enjoys long walks, reading out loud, playing card games, going through photo albums and talking a lot about family. She loves animals, music, nature and enjoys wearing her make-up and jewellery every day!

She has a great positive and happy disposition but due to the condition is prone to mood changes. Therefore it is essential the carer has a good understanding of how to manage dementia patients and have emotional resilience.

The carer must be calm, patient, upbeat and ideally have a spring in her step. A happy demeanour is essential as mum is this character and will get along better with someone who is like her.

A driving licence holder is preferred and an automatic car is provided.

Clear spoken English preferred.

Regular breaks can be taken on-site.

Extended breaks and days off can be taken when family visits.

House is in a village location an hour away from London by train, nearest train stations are Tring overground (goes to Euston) and
Chesham Underground (goes to Baker Street). There are regular buses from Wigginton to Tring town and Chesham town. Our father also drives.

Own bedroom provided.

Working schedule can be discussed and guidance and support provided by family.
