Job Description

This direct role for a new live-in carer to provide assistance to an elderly woman in her home. 

The lady has had dementia for seven years. She has a cheerful personality, is physically mobile and is generally a very easy person to look after. There is a great opportunity for you to build a long, warm relationship.

Duties will include support with all aspects of her daily living such as housekeeping, helping her to wash, dress and undress, toileting, bathing, meal preparation, cleaning and prompting medication. There will be regular outings and occasional medical appointments. You will have the main responsibility for the care and running of the house. If you wish to spend the day baking cakes or working in the garden together, the family will be happy to support you. You will usually be on your own with her in the house, so previous live in care or nursing experience is essential. 

This role is shared between two carers and would expect you to work three weeks on, three weeks off, depending on your circumstances, but this is negotiable.

The house is in North Kent with a lot of local facilities and close to London.

You MUST be currently eligible to work in the UK, you must be of good character, well presented, fit and active. You must also be kind, patient and prepared to respect and fit in with her lifestyle. You need to be organised and able to work alone and on your own initiative.
As a live-in carer you will need, as a minimum, previous experience in a caring capacity and the ability to run a home.

Working Hours & Time Off
You will be working for 7 days per week and can expect to be available to the client although the work will not be demanding for the whole of this period.  Working Hours Agreement will be discussed with you prior to commencement.

Food, Accommodation
Food and accommodation is provided by the family during the three-week shift. There is a private bedroom with a double bed. There are wardrobes and cupboards for your use. There is also free high-speed wifi in the house, as well as digital TV in two rooms.

Pay
The salary for this self-employed live-in care position will be £565.00 per week. 

Additional Pay
Additional pay rates for Bank Holidays.

Work permits and Checks
UK government will not issue work permits for this type of work, so you must have a right to work in the UK (EU passport, Working Holiday Visa, etc.), which you will have to prove by documentation.
An enhanced criminal records check, along with satisfactory interviews with the family members will need to be completed before we can offer this position.

Limitations
Please do not apply if you don’t have care experience of caring for the elderly with dementia or don’t have the right to work in the UK.
