Job Description

Job Title: Support Worker

Location: London and Kent area. (Please note that work location may vary in line with company and service needs).

Reports To: Supported Living Manager

Employment Type: Full-time (Shift-based, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins where required)

Role Purpose:

The Support Worker plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care and support to individuals with a range of needs. The role focuses on promoting independence, dignity, choice, and community inclusion, while ensuring the safety and well-being of service users at all times.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Person Centred Support

  • Provide day-to-day support to service users in line with individual care and support plans
  • Promote independence, life skills, and social inclusion
  • Support service users with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks where required
  • Encourage participation in community activities, education, training, and employment opportunities

 

Health, Safety, and Wellbeing

  • Safeguard the physical and emotional well-being of service users
  • Follow all safeguarding, health and safety, infection control, and medication procedures
  • Accurately record and report incidents, concerns, and changes in service user needs
  • Work in line with CQC standards, company policies, and statutory requirements

 

Communication and Teamwork

  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, colleagues, families, and external professionals
  • Maintain professional boundaries and respectful relationships at all times
  • Attend team meetings, supervision sessions, and mandatory training

 

Transport and Community Access

  • Support service users to attend appointments and community activities
  • Drive service users where required as part of their support plan

 

Essential Requirements

  • Must have the right to work in the UK
  • Must NOT require Certificate of Sponsorship now or in the future
  • Must hold a full and valid UK driving licence
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English, both written and verbal
  • A caring, patient, and reliable approach to supporting others
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays

 

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience in health or social care
  • Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, mental health needs, autism, or complex needs
  • Knowledge of safeguarding principles and person-centred care

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Support Worker and knowledge of safeguarding practices is essential
  • Strong interpersonal, written and communication skills to build supportive relationships
  • Strong command of the English Language
  • Technical support skills to assist clients with basic digital or technological needs
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to client-specific requirements
  • Previous experience in a care or support role is advantageous but not mandatory
  • Relevant certifications in care or support work are beneficial
