I have spent a lot of time in hospital as a medical student, which has helped me understand the difference between caring personally for someone and caring for them in a professional capacity. I have spent a lot of time with the patients themselves. From asking them to explain what brought them to the hospital, to conversing with them to help make them feel more at home in hospital, this time has allowed me to feel completely comfortable speaking with various types of people, from all walks of life. My own personal experience as a carer is the initial spark which has made me so passionate about working with patients. From the age of 10 to 18, I would work as a carer for my mother, who suffered with severe cardiovascular issues. Helping her take her medication on time was something which became second nature to me, along with learning to do daily chores such as cooking many of my own and her meals, as well as keeping the home clean. It is something now I feel I want to do for others. ...

I've recently got experience attending psychology patients during my university practices, most of them who had physical impairment or emotional disorders. I studied at University of Granada, Spain. In Manchester, I've been working as a nanny for special needs children (autism and ADHD) and as an aupair companion (elderly couple, multiple sclerosis and dementia). I was flexible with my ROTA time, working very motivated and committed, able to understand and assist them with physical and mental disabilities, be patient and always showing a person-centred approach. My intention applying for this role as a support worker, is to get more experience as I am planning to study general nursing the next year. I consider I am a non-judgmental person; I’m very interested in learn how to improve health and well-being in people who has learning disabilities and physical impairment in all emotional, social, daily tasks and physical care aspects. Thanks for reading ...
