I spent 18 months caring for my mum through surgery and chemo and then onto what become palliative care. I was responsible for medication and helping with washing, toilet help and eating. All aspects of her life. After she passed I wanted to put the skills I had learnt to good use and so began work as an hourly carer. This I found not to be suitable as it was a zero ours contract. No structure or set clients and more time in the car than spending time with clients. I did get a live in position for 5 days. I left the company in July/ August and have taken some time to search more suitable positions. I would like to be able to work with cancer and palliative care as I have experience and understand the empathy family need. I think I am looking for a position that would allow me to either live in 4 days and 3 off or maybe do shifts. This is something I am willing to look into ...
