I decided to turn my personal experience of taking care of my elderly parents to a professional experience: my mum had suffered from a severe kidney disease and after her death my dad found it challenging to cope with ageing on his own so I acted as their carer for over 12 years. In the past 3,5 years, I have worked as a live-in carer, occasionally on my own, sometimes with other carers in shifts, and I supported the daily life of ladies with different health issues such as dementia, or long-term effects of stroke such as speech, vision or hearing impairment, mobility difficulties, or coping with Parkinson’s disease. ...
