My mother had dementia before she died, so I no official experience. I am a qualified person with skills in Management, English speaking and Engineering. I have a vehicle for wheelchairs, I cook well and at 60 have the maturity and the technical know-how for documentation as well as a bit of a handy man all rolled into one. I am used to working long hours and am in the process of retraining by doing some courses online (care certificate). My mum liked her desserts, I wonder if you will tell me how to please you. ...

I feel I can make a difference in people's lives as I am a hard working, kind-hearted honest individual who is easygoing and patient, especially with the charges in my care. Up till last year I cared for a 7 year child who has learning difficulties and speech impediment for few hours in between school and family coming home. I quickly learned to assess her needs, for example I recognising when she needed to be assisted with personal care, in the course of few weeks I fully become conversant with her routine. Few years back I cared for a lady with MS for more than 3 years as a live in carer thereafter worked in a home with learning disabilities clients. I looked after my grandson from 8 months when his mother returned to finish her nursing school up to completion of his primary school doing school runs when his parents worked full-time. I therefore feel that I possess transferable skills which would help me care for elderly clients in their homes as a valued member of Country Cousins. ...
