I am a registered person with a disability and wheelchair user having a condition known as Spinal Muscular Atrophy. I am from Liverpool, originally and moved out to South Africa in 1996 to work and I am still residing there with my wife. Ms Memory Mhaka (Zimbabwe Passport EN218992), has been my Caregiver since 2010. Her appointment was not based on any qualification but rather on her ability to provide all my physical needs (washing, cleaning, transferring, dressing, provision of medication, cooking, feeding, toileting etc) Memory since gained a formal qualification in Elderly Care, First Aid and CPR. My wife provides all my daily care and I am releasing Memory to pursue her dreams I believe we should all have the opportunity to travel and have new opportunities She does have a full valid Zimbabwean Passport , speaks perfect English, Shona and Zulu and has a very friendly and enjoyable personality. Recently working as a dental nurse for over two years as part of a multi disciplinary dental hospital, treating immunocompromised patients and those with special needs has led me to become a very skilled, compassionate and personable assistant. My personal experience of managing family members with physical disabilities and mental health illness at home has also evolved me in to an experienced Carer from a young age. I am looking for a live in care position to progress my lifestyle experience as well as for the individual I go on to care for. I am full of life, positivity, laughter and fun! I keep up to date with my CPD with a recent refresher in medical emergencies, manual handling, fire safety, safeguarding, infection control, health and safety to name a few. I am currently living in South Africa but will be moving to the UK in June this year. I will be living with my sister and her husband in Horsham. I’ve been in the hospitality industry for most of my adult life but have been wanting to do care work for some time now. I’m a dedicated hard working individual that knows all about long hours. I'm experienced live in carer of 8 years. I have worked with 3 clients in that time, my usual working pattern is 6 weeks on and 4 weeks off, my pay rate is from £750 per week. I always got on with my clients and their families. My latest client was 101 years old and I have looked after him for 5 years before he, sadly, passed away. I have been doing all aspects of live in care that includes household running, personal care, medication management, diabetes care, palliative care, recovery from broken hip including physio etc.i am hard working and very organised person, I do like to keep house tidy, my clients happy and comfortable.
