I am a previous NHS/Macmillan Cancer Support Manager and in the second phase of my life I want a role which fulfils my desire to care and support others. I have four grown-up children and now wish to use my personal skills in a profession which which would value them. I am patient, diligent, compassionate, friendly, kind and value kindness in others. I am also very hard working and honest. I love art, all kinds of music (from Chopin to Pulp, Bee Gees to Mozart) and I have a keen interest in cinema and social documentaries. From tiny I have had a love of wild swimming which I enjoy with my daughters. I enjoy cooking and baking and have a staple repertoire of go-to dishes and puddings. Sadly, whilst originally from Yorkshire, Yorkshire Puddings are not my forte! However, my grandma Mag was an inservice cook in a Stately home and she taught me many of her skills. I also enjoy board games, cards and dominoes - which I used to play with my grandparents. I am a keen crafter, and love to sit and knit or sew. I also enjoy gardening a great deal. I would love to be a carer, companion or PA. I am a bit of a night owl, so do not mind irregular hours and can easily adapt to suit a new pattern of work. I have previously been a sole trader, worked in large teams and also worked successfully in high pressure situations in small teams - all of which I enjoyed. I tend to get along with most people and can usually make everyone smile. I have spent the last two years training in massage modalities, which include : swedish massage, indian head, scar tissue therapy, fascials, manicures, thai foot massage and trigger point therapy. I am currently studying a diploma in oncology massage - all skills that I would hope to be able to use in my work. I would be eager to undertake any training and developement on offer. I have the right to work in the UK and completed a Certificate in Care. I have personal care experience, whereby I looked after my ex-husband after he was involved in a car accident, suffering severe brain damage. It took me 10 months to sufficiently rehabilitate him, from being discharged from the hospital as a "baby" to him driving a car by the end of his recovery period. I nursed my mom the more frail she became, assisting her with eating, bathing, use of the toilet etc, until she passed away. I visited our Parish Priest upon his retirement, who suffered with Dementia. I instinctively knew how to chat with him on my visits with him, until his death.
