I think a very important aspect in caring for someone is understanding that despite being all unique, every individual is a person who deserves a first-class service, and individualized care and since I can remember I have had a continuous inspiration in my life of what truly caring for someone meant. Throughout my academic path I’ve had the opportunity to encounter some unique experiences in the placements I’ve been to. It was a great way to get to know myself deeper, especially in dealing with the pressure and the unexpected. I am a Ukrainian refugee with a Biometric Residence Permit. I have worked as a carer in Italy for 11 years, caring for two sisters with complex needs. One sister had dementia, the other had Parkinson’s. My job ended in 2014. I was unable to return to my home in Donetsk in Ukraine due to the Russian occupation. I stayed in Italy and worked as a private carer to an elderly man who required tube feeding through the Peg system. I speak fluent Russian and Italian and I am taking English lessons to improve my English. ...
