My name is Martha S.. I am of Afro-Caribbean decent. I have worked in the NHS for many years in a variety of settings delivering care of a very high quality to various individuals. I have gained a wealth of knowledge skills experience and expertise during my delivery of care. I am a very kind, caring and loving person. I am very trustworthy, honest, reliable and respectful. I really enjoy working with the elderly. They are at a vulnerable stage in life and it gives me great pleasure assisting them with their daily living, not just the physical but also their psychological, social, environmental, emotional and spiritual needs. For those suffering from dementia it will depend on the stage of the dementia and may need different levels of care especially tender love and care. I have got very good observational skills and can detect when there is a change with an individual. I am fully aware of what to do incase of emergency while caring for the elderly. I have very good knowledge of what medication is for and what the side effects are. I am very hot on effective communication whether it be written, verbal or otherwise. I have experience with PA users with - Hoists, wheelchair, catheter, standing frame, sling, medication administration etc. - Epilepsy - Spinal cord injury - Diabetes - Early and late-stage of dementia - Multiple Sclerosis -Cerebral palsy - Stroke - Motor-coordination difficulties I have done a practical clinical training lately (autonomic dysreflexia, bladder washing, bowel movement, cough assist machine, oxygen aid, pressure sore care, etc) I love caring.
