My name is Heather. I am a compassionate, dedicated and hard working qualified care worker with 20 years experience with the knowledge, skills to promote and maintain the clients well-being, independence, security and safety. I enjoy my job and I like talking with my clients as I perform my duties. I have NVQ level 2 and 3 in health and social care and NFC level 2 in the understanding and safety of medicine. I have worked in community care, residential care, hospital, domiciliary care, learning disability, and living care settings, I cared mostly for the elderly and my speciality is dementia care.I have worked with people with physical conditions, dementia, end of life care, Strokes rehabilitation, Incontinence,deafness and visual impairment etc. I have experience in grooming and personal hygiene care to help my clients feel and look their best, assist with cooking light house duties, laundry, and any administrative tasks which need support. I demonstrate empathy, compassionate care, excellent communication skills, listening skills and act with integrity. I maintain a positive relationship with my clients by communicating in away to make he/she feels comfortable, listen, stay engaged during a conversation to show that I care, create trust, used my problem solving skills to reassured and calm a client in distress and treating my clients as individuals with dignity and respect. I encourage my clients to do as much for themselves and give praise, involve them in everyday decisions making and freedom to choose and providing the clients safety with right equipment’s and safe environment. I believe caring was instill in me, at the age of 10 I use to help in caring for my great grandma and elderly neighbours who were unable to do much for themselves it was a pleasure for me to assist them this help me to become a Carer and I continue to do what I love and good at. I am proud to be a carer to make a difference in someone else’s life by making them feel better and live independently, I appreciate the thank you, smile and the laughter, I get to learn more about myself, learn from others and learn something new everyday.
