I have been a carer for a lady with cerebral palsy for the last 6 years, up until her unexpected death in February. For almost two years before that I was looking after my grandmother.
My previous employer used an overhead hoist and sometimes a mobile hoist. She had a uterine catheter. She was able to speak but could do almost nothing physically. I assisted her with all aspects of her daily life including cooking, light housework, basic gardening, dog walking, social outings, etc. We even went camping after adapting her van, and also ice-skating one Christmas!
I am a Christian (Roman Catholic) and when not working I write fiction for teens and adults. I enjoy reading, writing, walking, camping in my campervan, caving, and sometimes ice skating. I also enjoy swimming, mostly in sea pools when on holiday.
I am a reliable and considerate woman, and very respectful of others.
