As a caregiver, I believe my most valuable personality traits are kindness and patience. In my last role, I cared for an elderly man who was suffering from Parkinson's disease. His communication was very limited. I understood his medical condition and was patient with him, communicating via gestures, maintaining an eye contact, and reading facial expressions.
I also worked for many years with people with learning disabilities. I learn to understand their needs and developed a special relationships. I also worked as part of a team of dedicated care workers.
