Until last August, I worked full-time in fast-paced job in production for 12 years. However, I took a career break to become a full-time carer for my 71-year-old father after he suffered a stroke. Sadly, he passed away in December, but I found those months of caring for him to be the most meaningful work I have ever done. Unlike the high-pressure production cycle of production (where I regularly worked 9 am to 10 pm, six days a week), caring for my father was a slower, more personal pace, but rewarding.
