I am a highly experienced, compassionate, and dedicated Live-in Carer and Registered Nurse with over eighteen years of experience in health and social care, including eight years as a Registered Nurse. Throughout my career, I have worked extensively with older people, individuals living with dementia, learning disabilities, and those with complex and long-term health conditions, providing high-quality, person-centred care within their own homes.
I have significant experience supporting elderly clients with varying levels of physical, cognitive, and emotional needs. This includes working with individuals living with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, where I provide consistent, patient, and reassuring care to help maintain routine, familiarity, and emotional security. I understand the importance of communication, empathy, and reassurance in dementia care, and I am skilled in managing confusion, memory loss, anxiety, and changes in behaviour with sensitivity and respect.
My background as a Registered Nurse allows me to confidently manage complex care needs, including chronic illnesses, neurological conditions, mobility limitations, post-operative recovery, palliative and end-of-life care, and multiple co-existing conditions. I am experienced in medication management, monitoring vital signs, wound care, catheter and stoma care, PEG feeding, diabetes management, continence care, pain management, and recognising early signs of deterioration, ensuring timely and appropriate intervention.
I have also worked extensively with individuals with learning disabilities, supporting them to live as independently as possible while ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and dignity. I adapt my approach to meet each person’s level of understanding and ability, promoting confidence, choice, and inclusion in daily activities and decision-making.
As a Live-in Carer, I place great importance on companionship and emotional support, particularly when working with older people who may experience loneliness or isolation. I build trusting, meaningful relationships by offering genuine companionship, engaging in conversation, shared activities, and social interaction, while respecting personal boundaries and individual preferences. I believe emotional wellbeing is just as important as physical care.
In addition to clinical and personal care, I provide full support with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, mobility assistance, meal planning and preparation, household tasks, and maintaining a safe and comfortable home environment. I take time to understand each client’s routines, cultural background, values, and lifestyle, ensuring care is always tailored to the individual rather than the condition.
I am reliable, patient, and adaptable, with the ability to work independently and manage responsibilities confidently in a live-in care setting. I maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and accurate documentation at all times and work collaboratively with families and healthcare professionals to ensure continuity and consistency of care.
Above all, I am passionate about caring for others and committed to enhancing quality of life. My aim as a Live-in Carer is to support individuals to remain in their own homes with dignity, comfort, companionship, and the highest standard of compassionate care.
