I have been working as a carer for a year and a half now. It might sound minimal; however, my client experience is otherwise. I work hard to create a bond with my clients and understand their needs. My clients like me because of my compassionate approach, communication, and patience.
Because of the nature of my work, I deal with people with dementia a lot. I have experience of handling clients with brain and spinal injuries, schizophrenia, parkinsonism, depression & anxiety, epilepsy & stroke.
I deal with people who require assistance with peg feeding, stoma care, moving and handling, continence/incontinence. I have been trained to handle situations like dysphagia & choking, first aid, fire safety, moving and handling, basic life support including CPR, bed rails and bumpers safety, falls & tripping, palliative care, and infection prevention & control.
