The practical care experience I have was with a family member. After reading about caregiving, I realized that there are many things I would have done better.
I supported my loved one with: cleaning the house, food preparation, feeding and encouraging to eat, washing dishes, bathing, dressing and grooming, toileting, washing clothes and bed linen, cleaning pressure sores and bandaging, administering medicine, companionship among other things.
I worked with other family members and that improved my team spirit and I also became good at following the doctor's instructions.
In my role as a teacher, I developed people and communication skills, I have become very adaptable. I acquired skills in observation, assessment, record keeping among others.
I am patient, caring and willing to learn.
