My inspiration to work as a Carer comes from my desire to help other people and taking care of my dad who had dementia. I have one year experience working as a Carer and I want to make a difference in people's lives by taking care of their needs, be it by nursing them to health or assisting with things they cannot do for themselves or need assistance with.
Care is not a one size fits all but should be tailor made to an individual's needs. I've worked mostly in retirement homes but I have had the opportunity to be assigned to residents that live independently in their cottages within the home. I help them with personal care, administering medication, preparing meals and companionship.
I'm a compassionate, patient, dependable, trustworthy and hardworking person. I work well under pressure, have good organisational skills and I am observant. I take pride in my work and strive to give the best possible care and treat clients with the dignity and respect they deserve. I also work in the care centre with residents that are physically frail or with dementia and deal with palliative care. I assist also with their personal care such as bathing, grooming, feeding, mobility, encourage in taking part in social activities and hobbies, accompanying to doctor's or hairdressing appointments. In essence I provide emotional and physical support , companionship and take care of their overall well-being. It gives me such fulfilment to see a client smile and thank me for the smallest of things or give me their hand just to have that connection.
