As a previous employee of G4S in the role of Detainee Custody Officer (DCO) based at Brook House Immigration Removal Centre I feel I am well suited to the role on offer. I have a number of transferable skills gained in my previous employment with G4S that will stand me in a good stead for Carer position.
Having worked in a custodial environment and with individuals with a wide range of needs, criminal history and both physical and mental health issues, I am very aware of the level of care, support and empathy required to allow these vulnerable individuals to thrive. I feel it is important to ensure residents, especially young people, have an environment and appropriate level of support that allows them to feel free to express their feelings and live a happy and productive life as they move forward.
On a personal note, I believe that I am a dynamic but very approachable person, that has the ability to make someone feel at ease and with time, to open up to me with any issues they may be facing. I have a great sense of urgency and can be a very dynamic as well as a great leader, I have demonstrated this in my current role as a Support worker.
I have transferable skills from previous employment that will allow me to conduct my role to the highest level. I have worked in very fact paced environment that have required managing a number of officers on duty whilst keeping the centre safe and smooth running. I have worked in a multi-cultured environment which has enhanced my knowledge in approaches that are required to deal with staff and people under our care as individuals.
I would appreciate if this opportunity was given to me so I can demonstrate my ability to make a difference through professional and personal experience. To prove the ability that I have to be adaptable and a motivated individual that thrives to make a difference at a large scale.
