Dear Sir/Madam
I am writing to express my keen interest as a Live in carer.
I am a highly motivated and dedicated individual, with a strong background in healthcare services and a proficient command of medical terminology. As a healthcare assistant, I have worked in a variety of clinical environments. I have supported patients in rehab, who were decannulated to improve their physical health as well as their mental and emotional wellbeing (at Wellington Hospital); and on the surgical ward I supported patients recovering from their surgeries (at Harley Street and Princess Grace). In haematology, I worked alongside nurses and doctors in supporting patients with their chemotherapy and their recovery progressions; and in oncology, I supported patients with their overall wellbeing and managed their ongoing conditions (at UCLH and at Harley Street). Therefore, I believe I have the experience and skills necessary to thrive in this position.
In my previous healthcare roles, I have worked with patients with complex needs like spinal cord injuries, brain tumours, heart failure, and cancer (prostate, bladder, pancreatic, oesophagus, and lung). I managed their medication, PEG feed, nebuliser, cough assist, suctioning, time management, risk assessments and their record-keeping, while liaising with the multi-disciplinary team. In addition, I trained staff according to the company guidelines and best practice. I have also worked in the mental health sector, caring for patients with schizophrenia, borderline personality disorders, manic depression, self-destructive behaviours, and alcohol and drug abuse, and these patients were often victims of sexual abuse and/or domestic violence. I worked within a multi-disciplinary team, where we managed to create better life conditions for our patients that supported and improved their wellbeing and recovery.
I possess excellent communicational, organisational and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to listen, which enables me to build positive relationships with both patients and colleagues. I am a fast learner and have a strong work ethic, which allows me to adapt to new challenges and work well under pressure.
I am self-disciplined and self-motivated, able to work well alone or as part of a team. I can take instructions, follow them through, and work in a highly paced environment, with the ability to adapt to changes and prioritize my workload accordingly. I have conducted medical research in relation to patients in my care, and I have confident IT skills. I pay attention to detail, I like to take the initiative, and I am reliable, committed and consistent. I am also attracted to HCA Healthcare UK’s commitment to professional development, which aligns with my own goals for personal and career growth.
I am confident that my previous work experiences in healthcare and current skills set recommend me as a strong candidate for this role as Medical Secretary. I hope you will consider my application, and that I get the opportunity to work as a Live in carer.
Yours faithfully
Hayat.
