Caregiving Track Record in SA and UK from 2018 to date, specialising in Dementia (especially Alzheimer’s Stokes and immobility) 2018 : Volunteer Caregiver at La Vie Frail Care 2018-Jan 2019 : Carer for Maria (Hensen) Pinder in Teignmouth, UK. She had cancer and 15 other types of illnesses diagnosed. She unfortunately passed away in January 2020. I could not accompany her to Egypt for a 6 weeks holiday in Jan 2019, so I looked for another assignment. Her email regarding my abilities is available as reference. I had to assist Maria with everything possible including administering of medicine (77 pills a week), 24 hour personal care, general housekeeping, cooking, ordering of food and medicine and caring for her cat and dog, as well as her grandchild of 6 that visited almost every weekend. Her email regarding my abilities can be send as reference. Rest of 2019-Dec 2020 : Carer for Janice and husband Dale Shields in Haynes, a village in Bedfordshire, UK. Jan suffered from Dementia, mainly Alzheimer’s and needed full professional and personal care. I did everything for her and also helped her through 2 strokes that she had whilst I was holding her, getting telephonic instructions from Bedford Hospital Emergency Unit, until the ambulance arrived. My duties included but were not limited to personal care, medication, dressing, feeding, cleaning, cooking, washing & ironing, ordering of food and other necessities online (during Covid) or shopping from Morrisons, Tesco’s etc. General housekeeping for both Jan and Dale and their cat. As part of my package, I worked 24 hours shifts with lots of night calls for 5 days/nights with 2 hours free daily and had 2 days off per week (which I could take over a weekend by prior arrangement). I had my own car included in the package for my personal use and taking Jan on appointments and outings, when she could still communicate with us and was somewhat mobile. Towards the end she could not walk or talk anymore. I went back to SA for a home visit end Dec 2020 (on the last flight out of UK after being there for the whole year without a home break) due to Covid Travel ban. I could not return in 2021 because South Africa was on the UK’s Red List of Countries and we could not enter the country. Jan was placed in a Dementia Unit in Shefford and unfortunately also passed away on 30 December 2021. Dale’s reference letter is available. Covid Travel Ban for South Africa prevented a return to UK during 2021 and part of 2022. Jan to May 2023 : Carer for Gertrude Foxton through her daughter Lindy Reddihough in Berwick-Upon-Tweed, border between England and Scotland. Gertrude who is nearly 95 has quite serious dementia and mobility problems. Part of my duties included getting Gertrude up in a morning and putting her to bed (using hoisting / lifting equipment for all purposes), dealing with her personal hygiene etc. My client told me that I am the best carer ever. She praised me for very good housekeeping, cleaning, washing and ironing, keeping the whole house neat and tidy and all caregiver duties. I did all the shopping (mostly on-line) and did all the cooking and cleaning after meals. Breakfast, lunch and tea were prepared and I helped to feed Gertrude. Lindy recommended me as a very kind and caring carer. Her reference letter is available Aug to September 2023. I am currently standing in for a carer that went on 6-7 weeks leave to South Africa. My client is Judith Lindley and I care for her 85 year old mum, Frauke Hankamer in a 4 storey home, after having 2 strokes during 2022. Her right side is paralysed and she has limited mobility with her left side. I do all aspects of caring, including lots of hoisting and dealing with mobility issues. I have a wheelchair enabled vehicle to drive her around to appointments etc. Hygiene, medication, cooking, cleaning, laundry, lots of hoisting and use of stair lift, wheelchairs, commode throughout the day and an electric wheelchair when we go out. I will obtain a reference letter upon completion of my live in care period with her. I went back to South Africa in May 2023 to move from Gauteng to Western Cape, which has been completed in June 2023 and therefore looked for a new placement from August 2023, since I love caring and commenced my career as caregiver abroad in August 2023 again. I am urgently looking for a new live-in assignment, preferably on a 3, 4 or 6 months rotation at a time, due to the high cost of airline tickets. I can be anywhere in the UK / Ireland or elsewhere in a few days, it’s a matter of booking a ticket to get to my new position. If you are interested in the rest of my Commercial career of 34 years, I will gladly forward the info to you with references from my previous colleagues and Managers, to show you what others think of me, my abilities, dedication, commitment and passion for whatever I do, whether at home or in my work situation. Personal Details: Date of Birth 04 August 1959; Languages English and Afrikaans. Availability end Sept to end Nov 2023. Country of Birth Nationality: Namibia, South African
