Hi, I am Stella, experienced self-employed live-in carer. My experience is predominantly with clients with dementia, Parkinson’s, diabetes, anxiety, arthritis, osteoporosis, also: coming home from hospital after operation, stoma bag, catheter, bed-ridden. I am strict with medication prompting and administering, I like supervising and assisting my clients in exercise and with mobility, I am very thorough on assisting personal hygiene. I like cooking, traditional or modern (healthy) and the keeping the house hygienic. I possess a valid European driving licence, but I need refreshing of my driving skills for this country.
I also have many years experience as a complementary therapist in London and I am using my knowledge in my current work.
I approach my work with seriousness about the care my client needs, but I also use my sense of humour in dealing with day-to day tasks. I keep good communications with the client's family and the other professionals looking after their health.
The only one of your requirements I do not meet is the age, I am from teh generation of the mothers of your ideal 35 year old carer. But, guess what: the naturally intelligent elderly clients like me and trust me, I achieve very good rapport with them and engage well with them, which is the foundation for establishing a good working relationship. I am familiar with antiques, I like crosswords and I have "helped" clients to do them, and I am also experienced in knitting. I have done small elementary things in gardening and it has been my dream to grow roses for some time now, hence my looking for a long term placement with a client with a house in London. By her description, Moya would benefit from such a carer. The location is also very attractive to me as I have lived in London for more than twenty years and the agency keeps sending me to the country. I could do rotation, but before committing to it, I will need to know some more details, please.
