At present I have been working for Woodleigh healthcare LTD and Seeds Social enterprise LTD , Woking, as a support worker. As a support work you have to undertake a big reasonability which will consist of a lot of high risk tasks that involves manual handling people as well as washing them whilst they are on the bed as some are bed bound which means that most of the time they remain in there bed for most of the day depending if they are capable of been hoisted into a wheelchair or other devices. Also have mental clients who have mental/ challenging behaviour which is very difficult. They can be veryphysical and violent towards anyone but that’s why you always stay alert to this situations. If notyou can sustain injury to you and other members of the public if not careful. One of the most important thing is retaining the client’s dignity as they will be venerable adults/children when you are performing tasks listed below, washing or changing clothes so it’s very important that we uphold and maintain professionalism at all times. (4 years experience + at present).

Tasks involve.

Feeding.
Making food.
Changing clothes.
Changing pads.
Manual handling.
Encouraging daily exercises.
Changing stoma bags.
Meds control.
Accompanying Clients with food shops and general outings.
On call.
Mangering staff.
Posting and adjusting rotas
Using various life support machine( suction machine and other breathing machines)
PEG feeding.
