My name is Bester though I prefer to be addressed as Shumi. I started working in care in 2000 and have worked in hospitals, nursing and residential homes and day centres as a carer. After embarking on my Adult Nurse training in London, in 2004 I qualified as a Registered Nurse and worked on a Surgical Ward caring mainly for cancer patients who had undergone bowel surgery. In 2008 I qualified as a midwife and worked on the NHS on wards and in an outpatient clinic. I therefore have great experience of caring for both male & female clients through my journey in care, support work, nursing & midwifery.
In 2018 I moved to live in care work as I prefer the platform this type of work gives me to focus FULLY on one client and give them care that gives me joy and lives me at peace with myself. I absolutely love learning through caring experiences and I know I am a great asset in any every environment I work in. I have been described a breath of fresh air, I am caring, empathic, hardworking, lively and I have great communication skills. I have a great passion for the arts, music, books, travelling and absolutely love pets and the outdoors!
