Hi, my name is Gail and I'm currently self employed but looking for a career change. I have two children both aged over 30 years of age so I don't have any commitments.
I have a larger car so can easily transport mobility equipment if needed.
Before going self employed in June 2012 I looked after my mother who was diagnosed with Dementia and Elzheimers.
My typical day would be visiting my mother getting her showered, dressed and preparing breakfast ready for the day ahead. As my mothers health started to deteriorate, I moved my mother in with me for the final 36 months before her passing.
As stressful as it was at times, caring for my mother 24/7 having to run a house hold and still find that time for myself was hard. But, I know she had the best 36 months of care with myself maintaining her dignity and self worth. I'm happy to do it time and time again knowing that I made a difference to someones life.
