I am a caring individual with four years of experience in the social care field. My heart has always been in the helping professions and I want to continue my career on this path. I strongly believe in empowering people with disabilities to live a life as independent and fulfilling as possible. I found the roles I’ve been involved in so far incredibly rewarding and very much enjoy the social aspect of it, although I have also inevitably been faced with challenges.
My experience involved working as a support worker for young people with autism and learning disabilities for a couple of years. This was a supported housing project aimed at assisting residents with daily living skills and social activities, care planning, providing keywork sessions and liaising with other health professionals involved in their care.
More recently I have worked with a wheelchair bound elderly client with chronic health and mobility issues in her home assisting her with getting out and about, cooking, cleaning and other day to day duties.
I am particularly interested in live-in care work positions and working with elderly people.
