I have worked continuously from 1995 until 2012 in care. Firstly Devon County Council, Plymouth City Council, North Somerset Council, and a Care Company, when I took redundancy from N.S.C. The last employment was night sleeping/awake hours. I moved to Shaftesbury in 2012, my Husband is a Prison Officer and secured a transfer, to be nearer the family. Since then I worked for 18 months caring for a 100 year old lady, dealing with all aspects of her care, sleeping in when she was poorly, she died December 2015. I then cared for a man with MS for 3 months, taking over from his wife who had major surgery. Then in March this year I started work on a 24 hour basis usually 48 hours at a time, giving personal care, dealing with meds, cooking and encouraging to eat and drink, this lady is 94 years old, has fallen and broken her hip, and it looks as if she is going into a Care Home.
