My youngest son broke his neck during a diving accident ten years ago, leaving him a C4/5 quadriplegic. I assisted to care for Handré when his two personal carers where off duty. As he had lost the use of this hands, and is paralyzed from his chest, downward, everything has to be done for him With this personal “hands-on” experience of caring for someone with special needs, plus the 17 yrs of managing retirement homes, I am of the opinion that I can add that “special touch”. Working with the elderly is my passion and I have sincere empathy for the elderly or any person in need of care. In retrospect, I now realize that our family’s tragedy has added immense value to my life and that I can enrich the lives of others by offering my service and support to other people who are on a similar journey in life.
