Hello,
I have been in the social care and health field for 10 years. I have been a live-in carer for 20 months, and I really enjoy it. I think my main skills and qualities are making the client feel comfortable, problem solving, a willing, flexible approach to meeting the clients needs, hard-working and organised. I also learn quickly, I am reliable and responsible. I was promoted in June 2015 to countrywide, On-Call Live-In Carer, which included travelling all over the country to live-in care posts where there is an immediate need or where a new care package needs to be set up.
I have experience with dementia, brain injury, cerebral palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, quadriplegics, non-verbal, cancer, learning difficulties, deaf and dumb clients, stroke, epilepsy, incontinence. I have training and experience of hoisting, manual evacuation, suction, cough assist, PEG feeding and medicating. I also have experience of domiciliary care.
